The Golden Dragon Band is set to perform at the 2023 UIL Marching Contest on October 14. In the meantime, however, the Dragon Band comes and performs during ‘Friday Night Lights’.
“My favorite part of being in band is definitely being up in the stands doing all of the jams, and laughing, and just being really happy,” band member Tayde Martinez said.
Friday Night Lights wouldn’t be the same without the band. They provide the music at pep rallies and football games.
“I think band uplifts everyone’s spirits and makes the fans want to get into the game,” Fine Arts Secretary Therese Burch said.
The band has about 205 members, and the extracurricular requires a lot of work. Despite that, the band members are very close and connected to each other.
“When we go out and practice I think we feel really connected because we can all agree that we would like more water breaks and think about going home,” senior Tayde Martinez said. “We also go to IHOP after home games, and it’s just really fun because the whole place is filled with band people”
