The Dragons welcomed the Lions of Livingston High School for their annual Homecoming game. Friday’s game came after a jam-packed week of spirited activities and ended with the Dragons marching off the field with a major win and a score of 34-24. The game remained close throughout the first quarter, as both teams had several possessions but only scored once each.
Quarterback Tyren Matthews was crowned Homecoming King during pregame. “I’m glad to win but I’m not trying to let it distract me from winning a ball game today,” Matthews said.
The first scoring play of the night was a 19-yard pass from Matthews to sophomore running back, RJ Whitaker.
Matthews held to his word again as he ripped through the line and sprinted 53 yards for a touchdown. Junior wide receiver, Cameron Brady capped off the night’s score for the Dragons after catching a 68-yard touchdown pass from Matthews, Brady’s first touchdown of the young season. Brady finished the game with 92 yards on two receptions from Matthews, who finished with 163 yards on eight completed passes. Matthews also led the team in rushing with 141 yards on 19 carries, followed by junior running back, Trae Page, who had 38 yards on eight carries.
The Dragons look to keep themselves in the win column as they travel to Bryan tonight, to take on the Bryan Rudder Rangers at 7:30 pm. Come early, be loud, and back the NAC!
